The holidays

I like them. They are grand. Thanksgiving was a success this year. It's always nice to be with family and friends that you love and care about. Next up, Christmas. I love love love Christmas. Mostly I love why we celebrate it. I love my savior, I love what he did for me. I know that he knows me personally, and that he loves me, that is such a comforting thought. I am happy that we get to celebrate his birth, and his life. I am happy that I get to be with family, they are my best friends. They are wonderful. All in all, I just love the holidays. Here is what I have of my Christmas playlist.

 Jo's Christmas Playlist
One) Good king Wenceslas-Relient K
Two) Angels from the Realms of Glory-Sissel
Three) Mistletoe-Justin Bieber (don't judge)
Four) Merry Christmas Darling-Karen Carpenter
Five) Silent Night-Micheal Buble (his voice melts me)
Six) Christmas Time is Here Again- The Beatles
Seven) Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas-Coldplay
Eight) Fairy tale of New York- The Pogues
Nine) The Christmas Song-Nat King Cole

So good.

Attention.

While "writing" my paper for History, I:
  1. Go on Pinterest for what I say will be 2 minutes....15 minutes later I'm mad at my self.
  2. Go on facebook to make sure I didn't miss an upcoming event. See a funny video on my feed. Watch. Then watch 5 others.
  3. Eat.
  4. Do anything but write my paper.
  5. Stare at the screen.
  6. Blog. Hence what I'm doing now...
Well, I really do need to write. Curse you school. Oh, really quick news. I had an interview at Joann's Fabric today. It went really well. We'll see if I get it, and if I do, we'll see if I accept it. I'm wavering a bit.

Just for laughs. I love it, and them.

Whoop whoop.

Have I ever told you that I love the rain and snow more than anything? You know how some people get seasonal depression in the winter? Not I. I relish in the winter. Being cold is one of my favorite things. Well, I mean, being cold so that I can put on a nice sweater, pea coat, mittens, and boots, and drink a nice cup of cider or cocoa. Yes. I love this day. It's swell, just swell. Off to take my test. Wish me luck, I've a lot to live up to. Oh, also, I've decided that if I get another 100% on this test, I will reward myself with something nice. I think I will get some nice, tall, brown boots, with buckles.

 Like maybe these?

Or these?

I'm going to have to take a short break I think...school is killing me. Not literally...but I have about a million deadlines. Sooo. Wish me luck? Thanks.

Huzzah

Done with midterms. Finished. Kaput. See ya later. Oh, what a joyous day. Gotta love college.
Oh, I got bangs. I think I like them, but it's too early to tell. I'll let you know soon, oh and maybe post a picture.
FALL BREAK. yes. could not come at a better time.

So my lovely grandma is getting rather old, that's okay, it happens, and since she is aging, it has become harder for her to do things on her own. Now, you have to know my grandma, she is probably the most independent person I know. My grandpa passed away about 7 years ago? Maybe 8? I will have to check on that. Anyway, since he passed, she has been alone in her house, except for the tenants she has living in her downstairs apartment. So she is use to doing things on her own. When the doctor told her that she couldn't drive anymore, she was distraught, but, being the amazing person that she is, she has carried on. She is in pain constantly, and it breaks my heart. Recently her maid had to quit because of family issues, so she asked if I would be willing to come twice a month to clean her home. Of course I said yes. Cleaning her home will allow me to make a little cash, but more importantly, I will be able to spend time with my grandma, because we really don't know how much longer she has left. I just love her. She is the cutest thing you will ever see. She's about 4' 11", grey hair that she gets styled to perfection, always  wearing her cute antique jewelry, oh, and did I mention that she is tiny? She is a wonderful woman, and I look forward to spending time with her, even if it's just twice a month.

That's all for today folks. I hope you all have a glorious fall break. Don't forget to thank your heavenly father for our beautiful surroundings, and for all that he has given you.

We have this at our fingertips, it would be a shame if we didn't explore it.

Hipsters

Oh hipsters. I see them daily at school.

Hipsters: people who think they are original and unique for having "innovative" opinions, when really the only opinion they have is the opposite of whatever is considered "mainstream" at the time. -the internet

hipsters: "what! you're not allowed to like (insert underground band name here)! you're too mainstream! you listen to the.....RADIO"

average person: "oh..um.... i just like their music...because it's good....im sorry?"

hipster: *puts on fake glasses and walks away*

So great.

I'm so happy I could cry

Guess who got 100% on her Art History test...........this girl.

When I saw that big 140/140 circled in red...I cried. Literal tears.

That test took 4 hours, and by the end of it, my hand was shaking uncontrollably.

Was it worth it? Oh yes. Yes it was.

Grood

Great, and good. Today was a grood day, and I will tell you why:

  • I think I did real grood on my Humanities test, and I got a 50/50 on my paper.
  • I really enjoyed Art History.
  • I ate some delicious Costa.
  • I watched my girls pull a win and pave their way to state! (they deserve the exclamation point)
  • I got to see some grood friends whom I miss dearly.
  • My new Nephew was born today. He is adorable.
  • I wore my hair natural. It's always a grood day when I wear it curly.
  • I don't have any homework...yet.....
  • I am going to watch Jane Eyre. The new version. With this guy. (see below)

Handsome. Love the scruff.

AHHH!

New album. November 1st. You can bet I will be first in line.

Just something to think about

Attitude:

I woke up early today, excited over all I get to do before the clock strikes midnight.

Today I can complain because the weather is rainy...or I can be thankful that the grass is getting watered for free.

Today I can grumble about my health...or I can rejoice that I'm alive.

Today I can cry because roses have thorns...or I can celebrate that thorns have roses.

Today I can mourn my lack of friends...or I can excitedly embark upon a quest to discover mew friendships.

Today I can whine because I have to go to work...or I can shout for joy because I have a job to do.

Today I can complain because I have to go to school...or eagerly open my mind and fill it with rich new tidbits of knowledge.

Today stretches ahead of me, waiting to be shaped. And here I am, the sculptur who gets to do the shaping.

What today will be like is up to me. I get to choose what kind of day I will have!

Have a great day...unless you have other plans...

My apologies

I think it's official. I am theee worst blogger to ever walk the earth. I post so irregularly, and I am deeply sorry. My life just really isn't that exciting right now. I'm a college student, still living at home, whose friends are all at different colleges. My day consists of going to school, coming home, doing homework, eating, and going to bed. Exciting right? False.

I like it when my mom pulls really cool clothes out of her closet that she wore in college. And they just happen to fit me. She had great style.

Yesterday I had my very first college test. Art History was the subject I was tested on. Don't worry, it only took me 4 hours to complete. Which is less than the average time of 5 hours. I was quite proud of myself, aaaand, I think I did rather well. Lets hope.

Have you ever met a person that is just so happy and outgoing, that they make you want to be happy and outgoing? Here is a little story for you: Last Monday I was having the worst day ever. I will spare you the details, but lets just say that it was not a good start to the week, and everything just seemed to be going wrong. As I was walking to the UVU library (I was at school), I came upon a door. Naturally I was going to open it, when I heard someone say, "I'll grab that" I look over and there is a guy running to get to the door before me. As he opens the door, I give him a smile and a "thank you" and proceed to walk. He walks with me. And talks. It's safe to say that he was one of the nicest guys I have ever met. He asked questions about me, and was genuinely interested in my answers. He made me smile and laugh, and just made things seem better. As the week went on, I found myself wanting to be like Mike (that was his name). Meaning I wanted to be able to brighten someones day. Instead of walking around campus with an expressionless face, I would smile. If I ever made eye contact with anyone, I would be sure to give a smile. If I ever had the opportunity to talk to someone, I would. All because of one person. So, I have a challenge for all of you. Don't be afraid to smile. No one is going to judge you for it, and if they do, well then it's their problem. Smile and be friendly, you never know who is having a hard time, and could use a little dose of your happiness.

Well it's late, and I have school tomorrow. More to come . I promise.

Winter

I  LOVE the Winter. It's safe to say that it's my favorite season. I love wearing winter clothes. Particularly pea coats and sweaters. Also, when a guy can rock a pea coat, he is so much more attractive. I love the snow.  It's so beautiful. I love going to temple square in the winter with a pipping cup of hot chocolate and gazing at the wonderful lights, and our glorious temple. I love Christmas. Everything about it. I like to wear thick tights under my dresses. Oh and boots, I cannot say enough about boots. I love wearing beanies and cut off gloves. I like seeing people biff it on the ice, and while laughing at them, slip on the ice myself. Good times. Plus, Justin Bieber is coming out with a Christmas album which makes the Winter that much better. Oh, I like fall too. But Winter, Winter is where it's at. See ya.

Mmmm...

Love them. They are useful, and cute.

Words cannot express....

Heh

I really enjoy facial hair on men. I would say that 1 out of every 20 males here at UVHigh have some sort of facial hair. Mmmm....also, the M button is starting to annoy me on this computer because I have to press real hard for it to work. Anyway. More to come later. This was just a preview of my day. Seeeeeeee ya.

University. Maaaaan.

Hi. So listen. I realize that I have neglected this blog. A lot. So I would like to apologize to whoever reads it (if there is anyone). I can honestly say that unlike some people, blogging is not among one of my top priorities, but, I do quite enjoy it nonetheless. Well. Glad I got that off my chest.

Now, on to some exciting things. I STARTED COLLEGE! So crazy. Here is a bullet list (you know how I love them) of all the things I have learned about College so far:

  • It is NOTHING like high school. In the best ways possible.
  • Everyone is so nice. I hardly ever have to open any doors for myself.
  • The male population is large. And I like it. And I love it.
  • It is going to be difficult.
  • The library is my best friend.
  • It's rather large, so I get good exercise whilst walking to my classes.
  • I'm never hungry and, I don't know why.....
  • Most of my professors are liberal.
  • Some scientists believe that Chimpanzee's are more closely related to humans than they are to Apes. Fascinating.
  • Books are expensive, and worthless.
  • You can tell that it's a freshman, by the way it is. .
  • You are invisible. Which is both a good thing, and a bad thing.
Well. There you have it. That is what I've learned the past 2 days. Let's see what the future holds shall we?

Busy

I wish I could tell you that I have been endlessly busy, and just haven't had the time to post.

But, that would be a lie.

I have been busy in a sense, I've just been doing lots and lots of fun things. This past week was Strawberry Days. Words cannot express how much I utterly love Strawberry Days. First off, it's right around the time of my birth, which makes for some good birthday fun, and second, who doesn't love the Strawberry Days rodeo? Also, City of fun/scum carnival can be pretty fun, although I am constantly worried about getting kidnapped while I attend, but hey, it's all part of the fun right?

Funny story about creeps trying to kidnap people: Me and Clari were driving home in the wee hours of the night after seeing Green Lantern-which by the way is uber cheesey-I finally arrived at her home and started to pullover when she spotted a creepy man lying on her sidewalk. So she screamed at me to keep driving and not pull over. I did just that. In the rear view mirror we saw him stand up and attempt to walk. Clari, being super afraid and almost in tears called Ammon who just so happened to be driving home himself, plus he was about 10 seconds away from her house. He came over and scared the guy off. Talk about lucky. And that's alll I have to say about that. (movie reference)

I went to a delightful restaurant called Roll Up Crepes with my awesome brother. It is divine. Please please please go there. I really want them to stay in business and it is seriously absolutely delicious. The menu consists of crepes. Dessert and Savory ones at that. Plus, there is a large tree in the middle of the building. So great. It's right off State St. in Provo, right past the University Mall. There is a huge Owl in the front. You can't miss it. Just go, I promise you will not be disappointed. .

I saw 17 Miracles and bawled like a baby through the whole thing. It was beautiful.

Well, I will probably post some pictures of my adventures this past week sometime soon, but. for now, words will just have to work.

That's all for now.

The future

For lack of a better post, I have decided to write about what I want most in a guy. I have been thinking about love a lot lately, mostly because I recently joined a Singles ward. Fun stuff. There are so many characteristics that I would love my future husband to have, I will name just a few: (sorry, here comes another bullet list...)
  • Returned missionary, with an unwavering testimony. That is of the utmost importance.
  • I want him to love me, for who I am, and not want me to change one thing about myself.
  • He should be kind to his family, especially his mother. You can tell a lot about a guy by the way he treats his mother.
  • If he is fond of Nature and hiking, that would be oh so great.
  • Please bless he is neat and organized, to compensate for my forgetfulness.
  • If he cooks, that's a huge plus.
  • Hilarious, he NEEDS to be able to make me laugh.
  • Lets hope he is smart. I like smart people, I also like "fix it" men. They seem to get a lot done.
  • It would be cool if he was good at taking pictures.
  • If he likes the names: William, Jack, Claire, Lily, and River, then we are set.
  • I want to be able to sing with him. Even if we both sound horrible.
  • He should have his own interests. That would be pretty neat.
  • Kind and generous. Those are great qualities.
  • Looks. It's not extremely important, but lets hope he can rock some plaid.
Where am I going to find this man? I wish I had an answer. I know someone is out there just for me. Whether or not he fits this criteria is unknown, but we will find each other some day, of that I am sure.
Anyway, just thought I'd share.

Things

This is what my day consisted of:
  • sleep
  • more sleep
  • laying out on the trampoline
  • cleaning
  • showering
  • roasting marshmallows at Anderson Park
  • Playing 'Things' and 'Battle of the Sexes' at Cole's
  • Going to Lindon Park, and getting kicked out by the Cops
  • Eating two delicious Jr. Bacon Cheeseburgers. mmm....

Sum Sum Summer

It's summer folks. Mostly this year, my summer will consist of work, and maybe some more work. The days already seem so long. . Don't get me wrong, I love where I work-there are some pretty awesome people there, but it just doesn't compare to going to the PG Pool every day, or chalking the BK or just being lazy with the best friends. I have to keep telling myself, "at least I'm getting paid" because that really is the only reason that I am working. None of this "you need to learn responsibility, or you have to much time on your hands" junk. I just need money.

If any of you guys know me, you know that I love wearing sandals. Not the Forever Young cute sandals, I mean, those are great too. But nothing compares to the I-look-like-a-dork-wearing-these-but-I-don't-care-because-they-are-waterproof-and-comfortable-sandals. Phew. Well, I no longer have to look like a dork thanks to these bad boys!

Don't you just love them?
I will miss my Teva's, but I could not have given them up to a sandal less worthy than these Chacos. My life is complete with them, and I look forward to getting a sweet tan line.

Anyway, wow, this is an uncharacteristically long post for me. I will end with this: Make this summer, a summer to remember. Don't have any regrets. Do all the things that you want to do. Make time for family, and for your savior. They will guide you. They will help you.

Well, I'm off to work. Wish me luck!

New

Well, I decided to create a new blog! Yay.
I promise that I will be much more faithful in posting on this new and improved blog. Much has happened since we last spoke. I graduated! Ahhh! It has not fully set in yet, I'm still in a blur. I really am going to miss so many wonderful people, but I cant wait to see what is in store for me in the future. I love you all. Really. I do. Till next time then.

Also, I recently saw X-men: first class. I have a weak spot for James McAvoy. He is spectacular. I challenge all of you to see it.
